Konica
Konica
Konica, a long-established Japanese imaging company, traces its history back to 1873, making it one of Japan's earliest manufacturers of photographic materials and cameras. Konica made significant contributions to the field of photography, introducing Japan's first branded camera and producing its first in-house developed film in 1929. In terms of camera technology, Konica was known for its innovative spirit, introducing smaller, lighter cameras and automatic shooting options. Its classic Konica Auto-Reflex was one of the first 35mm SLR cameras with automatic exposure control, playing a crucial role in the development of photographic automation.
As times changed, Konica merged with Minolta in 2003 to form Konica Minolta. However, facing the wave of digitalization, Konica Minolta ceased its camera business in 2006. Nevertheless, as a pioneer, Konica's innovations in photographic technology and products laid a solid foundation for the subsequent development of cameras and left an indelible mark on the history of photography.
